FANTASY FOOTBALL STATUS REPORT: KENDALL WRIGHT WR TENNESSEE TITANS

As far as wide receiver breakouts that have taken place this season, Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery's name has dominated the conversation and one can understand why.  The second-year man from South Carolina has shown big-play ability all season while racking up some impressive receiving totals as well to the tune of 33 catches for 561 yards and 2 touchdowns.  In fact at times it was looking like Jeffery was becoming Jay Cutler's number 1 target down by the red zone as opposed to veteran Brandon Marshall.  However through all of Jeffery's development, a similar breakout is happening on a much quieter but just as impressive scale in Tennessee.  Of course we are referring to fellow second-year wideout Kendall Wright who goes into the team's by week in Week 8 with 40 catches for 433 yards and a touchdown.  Wright is coming off his best game of the season after catching 9 balls for 98 yards against the San Francisco 49ers in QB Jake Locker's first game back from injury.  With the much stronger-armed Locker back under center in place of the sketchy Ryan Fitzpatrick, Wright is set to continue building on a very nice start to his career.  Himself a former first round pick out of Baylor in the same class as Jeffery, Wright actually had the better rookie season with 64 catches for 626 yards and 4 touchdowns.  Blessed with terrific hands, speed, and size, Wright has it all to be an upper-echelon receiver in short order.  Locker has to cooperate however as, despite how strong his arm his, his accuracy has been a problem in the past.  However in fairness Locker has played well this season when out on the field and Wright is benefitting.  With a heavy bye week on tap for Week 9 as well, picking up Wright now is a prudent thing to do.  He could be a quietly good WR 3 the rest of the season with maybe the possibility of more.  Upside play here which could pay off handsomely as we get closer to the playoff weeks which will be here before you know it.
