Tons and tons of news to get to in Week 3 fantasy football. Let's get right to it.
-We
all love Drew Brees due to his awesome passing totals each week which
is fantasy football gold. He did more of the same Sunday in passing for
342 yards and 3 touchdowns an 1 INT. However Brees also RUSHED for a
touchdown as he exploded the fantasy football scoreboard.
-If
you can't throw a touchdown against the New Orleans Saints than you
don't deserve to be used in fantasy football. Looking at you Carson
Palmer. Enjoy the wire.
-Palmer's bad day meant a
second straight week of next to nothing from Larry Fitzgerald (5 catches
for 64 yards). I thought Palmer was supposed to fix that?
-Jimmy
Graham is an absolute beast ho can't be stopped right now as he caught
two more touchdown passes Sunday to go with 9 catches for 134 yards.
Unreal. Forget Jason Witten and Rob Gronkoski. There is no competition
over who is the best tight end in football.
-Aaron
Rodgers had a rare off day Sunday in throwing only 1 touchdown with 2
picks for a total of 244 yards. If you want to trade him to me please
feel free.
-Andy Dalton was pretty miserable early on
this season but did well to reclaim some of his solid name by throwing
for 235 yards with 2 TD's and 1 INT. He never wows you but the numbers
are good enough, especially in two-QB leagues.
-Giovani
Bernard will get the majority of carries for Cincy soon. It is only a
matter of time as he rushed for 50 yards on only ten carries and a
score. He also chipped in 4 catches for 49 yards. Reminds me of a less
muscular Doug Martin. Pick him up everywhere where available.
-How
about Jonathan Franklin for Green Bay? The other rookie Packers
running back took over for an injure James Starks by running for 103
yards on 13 carries and a 1 touchdown. He also caught 3 passes for 23
yards. Unfortunately he lost the game for the Packers by fumbling away
the football late in the fourth. With Edie Lacy likely out for Week 4 s
he continues to recover from a concussion and Starks likely out with a
knee issue, Franklin should be added if you need a back.
-A.J.
Green owners like yours truly had to be pulling their hair out after he
got blanked in the first half. Green rebounded to salvage the day with
a TD grab but only 4 receptions doesn't cut it.
-Jordy Nelson had his turn to lead the Packers in receiving with 8 grabs for 93 yards.
-He
gets too much disrespect considering the terrific numbers he puts up
every year but Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo just quietly gets the job
done like he did Sunday with three touchdown passes among his 210
yards. I am an annual fan of Romo given the value he always brings.
Never grouped in as a top fantasy football draft pick, Romo supplies
more bang for the buck than almost any other passer.
-It
took awhile but we were reminded of why we are always intrigued with
DeMarco Murray as he was not fooling around Sunday in rushing for an
insane 175 yards on 26 carries with 1 TD while also catching 3 passes
for 28 yards. Against a Jeff Fisher defense. The Cowboys love to pass
too much for Murray to ever be a top tier runner but especially in PPR
formats he carries some burgeoning potential.
-Through
three games we can say Tavon Austin is a high volume receiver with a low
yardage total after catching 6 passes for only 30 yards. Use only in
PPR for now.
-Hmmm this Brian Hoyer fella. Threw for
321 yards and 3 touchowns in a smashing debut. Yes he threw three picks
but give the kid a break. Not even Hoyer's mother picked him up for
her fantasy football team but those in two QB formats should at least
consider him as a backup. Don't jump the gun yet and use him unless you
are desperate but he need to be monitored. We hardly knew ya' Brandon
Weeden.
-Jordan Cameron was a guy I compared to Jason
Witten in the summer. Who else made that comparison? Told you all to
pick him up. Added THREE more touchdowns Sunday on 6 catches for 66
yards. Can you say WOW? On Cleveland no less. We are looking at the
next star tight end folks.
-And now we get to Josh
Gordon off his to game suspension. Dusts himself off to catch TEN
passes for 146 yards and 1 TD. I will go out on a limb in saying he ill
be the number 1 pickup this week.
-No Adrian Peterson
won't rush for 2,000 yards. He lost a fumble for the second week in a
row in rushing for 88 yards but he did net a touchdown. Also helped PPR
owners with 6 catches for 27 yards. Take a deep breath Peterson
owners. Nothing to worry about.
-I traded for Greg
Jennings in trying to shore up my third receiver spot. I am not
impressed. Only 3 catches for 43 yards. Wonder how much of a product
of Aaron Rodgers he was.
-Surprised Philip Rivers only
threw 22 passes for 184 yards and 1 TD after how good the Chargers
passing offense had been. Rivers netted the TD on the Chargers' first
drive which no doubt gave his owners the idea of another big day. Not
to be. Rivers however did nothing to lose this one so put him out there
again.
-That big pickup of Eddie Royal wasn't so neat was it? Only 2 catches for 34 yards. He was never that good people.
-It
has been a bit of a struggle for Tom Brady owners with all the
inexperience and injuries making up his wide receiver corps. However
there is light at the end of the tunnel as both Danny Amendola and Rob
Gronkowski could be back next week. Holding the fort this week as
rookie Kenbrell Thompkins who finally showed flashed of what he did in
preseason by catching two touchdown passes. Thompkins only caught one
other pass though so don't drool too much. Aaron Dobson was actually
more busy with 7 catches for 52 yards.
-As a Doug
Martin owner, I continue to wonder where all the receptions have gone.
Only two yesterday after none last week. No touchdowns again either.
This is starting to remind me of Matt Forte's second season when he was a
big disappointment off a great rookie campaign.
-Telling
that LeGarrette Blount got more touches than Stevan Ridley. It looks
more and more like Ridley is not getting out of Bill Belichick's
doghouse. Bench him outright. Yuck.
-No garbage time
points for RG3 Sunday as he failed to throw for a touchdown and as
picked once. Yes 385 yards is a huge total but it was totally empty.
Right now Griffin owners are wondering what to do here but there really
is no easy answer. I think Griffin is throwing it good enough and will
get better as the season goes on. Give him another week.
-Alfred
Morris is being swallowed up by the fact the Redskins can't run it in
the second half since they are always playing catchup. Only rushed for
73 yards on 15 carries but he did score.
-On the other
side, Joquie Bell is a guy I want to see more and more. Has the
classic PPR makeup in rushing for 63 yards and a score on 20 carries
while also catching 4 passes for 69 yards. Reggie Bush should be back
next week but Bell is involved enough that he can continue being a RB 2.
-Matthew
Stafford continues to sling it with the bets of them in throwing for
385 yards with 2 scores and 1 INT. Told you all to draft him too as a
comeback guy.
-If you on a New York Giants offensive
player than my condolences. Cut Eli Manning loose as that is the rule
when you throw for only 119 yards and yet another pick. A doughnut on
touchdowns. What a disgrace. The entire offense is a joke right now as
David Wilson rushed for only 39 yards on 11 carries. Victor Cruz
caught only 3 balls while Hakeem Nicks was shut out.
-DeAngelo
Williams is turning back the clock to his first round pick days as he
rushed for 120 yards on 23 carries. Still onoly like him as a RB 3
though.
-Both Matt Schaub and Joe Flacco failed to
throw a touchdown pass. In our cut-and-dried world that means they were
bums. Both guys go up and down more than an elevator.
There you have it. Post your comments below.
