Finally the wait is over. The 2013 fantasy football season kicks off
tonight with the Denver Broncos hosting the Baltimore Ravens. Let's
take a closer look at the START/SIT candidates for tonight's game.
START:
Peyton Manning: Duh! Manning is looking like the top
quarterback in fantasy football based on offensive weaponry alone as he
has a Pro Bowl threesome of Demaryius Thomas, Eric Decker, and Wes
Welker. With CB Jimmy Smith out for Baltimore and Ed Reed no longer
patrolling the middle of the field, Manning is looking at a 300-yard/3TD
game.
Joe Flacco: Flacco has been a borderline
every week starter throughout his career that doesn't change after
winning the Super Bowl despite how awesome he was. However he deserves a
look tonight, especially in two QB leagues. The Broncos will be
without Pro Bowl CB Champ Bailey which will open things up in the
passing game. Plus the immobile Flacco won't have to deal with either
Von Miller (suspension) or Elvis Dumervil (defection).
Ray Rice:
Bernard Pierce is likely to eat into some more Rice work which is the
reason he was not the consensus number two back behind Adrian Peterson
this season. However with the Denver defense decimated, he will have
plenty of room to operate. Don't start Pierce however.
Wes Welker/Demaryuis Thomas/Eric Decker: This is looking like a shootout so all hands on deck with the Denver receivers.
Torrey Smith: Smith is looking squarely at a career-year now
that he is the number 1 guy due to the departure of Anquan Boldin. With
Champ Bailey on the bench, look for Smith to name his stat line.
Matt Prater:
Prater should be considered one of the top kickers in fantasy football
on opportunity alone. His accuracy is also a big bonus.
